The pageant would not be complete without an interview with the judges! Ms. Wheelchair Utah contestants have fun, one-on-one time and little Miss Hotwheels contestants get a fun chance to have a group interview with their new found friends.

Contestants are judged on self-perception, attitude, academic pursuits, and vocational goals and achievements since onset of their disability. Judges understand that one contestant who has been in a wheelchair for their whole life will have many more achievements than a girl who has recently bee paralyzed (after all, no one gives you an award when you relearn how to pick your nose!). The judges are kind and encouraging!

Each year, the pageant begins with a catered party for each contestant, their families, and performers.

The contestants have had their hair styled and their makeup done and are ready for their Soiree! Everyone is dressed up and feels like a real beauty queen. Contestants toast with sparkling cider to each other and the beauty within.

Dinner is catered by local, award-winning chefs.

The pageant is a truly special night with unbelievable entertainment and unforgettable moments! Contestants share their personal messages of inspiration during their speeches (which can be anything from a talk to a poem to a dance!). Their pictures are presented during a contestant slide-show and there are no dry eyes as the audience recognizes just how strong each contestant is!

The audience - and all pageant participants - are filled with encouragement and hope for themselves as they recognize just how similar we all are, and that it doesn't take a wheelchair to understand the MWU motto: When life gets too hard to stand, just keep on rollin'!
