What will the contestants do during the pageant?

1. Contestants will present for 2 minutes on their "Platform," which is their own personal message of inspiration. Past platforms have been:
Picture
"You are unique. Live it. Love it. Rock it." ~Kelie Babcock, 2010
Picture
"True beauty is all in the attitude!" ~Ashlee Allington, 2007
Picture
"'Braking' down the barriers" ~Rebecca Geockertiz, 2006
2. Contestants will have a closed interview with the judges. This will be a fun conversation with the judges and is all about the contestant's life and her goals and aspirations! It will be easy and fun and contestants know all the answers because it's all about them!
3. Contestants are asked one onstage interview question. This question is fun and is all about a contestant's life or their opinions. A list of all the judge's onstage interview questions will be given to the contestants.

What are the contestants judged on?

Contestants will each be judged based on their closed interview*, onstage interview, and two-minute presentation.

Areas of assessment are:
  • Self perception
  • Accomplishments since onset of disability
  • Attitude
  • Communication skills
  • Initiatives
All Contestants* will receive flower bouquets and gifts in honor of their individual efforts. Additionally, each contestant is awarded a specific and unique award determined by the judging panel.

*All Little Wheelzz contestants will receive crowns and bouquets and have their closed interview together as a group.

What Titleholders are selected?

There are three titleholders selected to work through the coming year. These are:

What do Titleholders do during their reign?

Titleholders share their personal messages of inspiration, or their platform, with schools, community groups, businesses, etc. They are not paid for their speaking while they are reigning titleholders, but past titleholders have become professional speakers when their year is over.

Ms. Wheelchair Utah travels to nationals to represent Utah in the national Ms. Wheelchair America Pageant in the summer. This event moves each year to a different state, however, past state locations have been: Arkansas, New York, Michigan, Florida, California, Nevada.

Ms. Wheelchair Utah and Miss Hotwheels do a lot on facebook to share their year with people of all abilities. They also make appearances at different events. All titleholders meet the governor.
